Bridges

Where the number of missing teeth is limited and the surrounding teeth are sound, bridgework may be an alternative to the provision of a denture.

Usually one or two teeth adjacent to the missing one(s) need to be prepared as described for crowns. To these will be fixed another unit or ‘crown’ to fit into the gap replacing the missing tooth or teeth.

Like the denture, a bridge may be used either to improve the function of back teeth or the appearance of front teeth.
